The strategic partnership will continue to provide creatives with the information they need to drive sustainability in the fashion industry.
LONDON/COPENHAGEN, 1 August 2022 – WGSN and Copenhagen Fashion Week announced their continued strategic partnership to provide creatives with information that will drive sustainability in the fashion industry. The partnership continues after one year of activity, creating valuable engagement opportunities for the clients and wider communities that both companies serve.
Leveraging the respective strengths of WGSN’s worldwide trend forecasting authority in fashion, and Copenhagen Fashion Week’s dedicated focus and expertise in sustainability, the two companies will continue to work together in 2022 to encourage and educate those working in the fashion industry about the steps they can take towards more conscious practices, and how they can design more environmentally and socially responsible products.
The WGSN x Copenhagen Fashion Week partnership has a mission that is based on three pillars: to inspire, educate and positively impact the fashion industry. In 2021, the partnership launched a joint white paper, Create Better: Innovating Towards a Sustainable Future, offering a toolkit of actionable strategies based on shifting consumer mindsets, to help brands move towards more sustainable design and innovation.
“The WGSN x Copenhagen Fashion Week partnership is a powerful initiative that continues to support brands, businesses and individuals on their sustainability journey. Building on last year’s goal to generate industry-leading information about sustainability in fashion, this year we are placing an even sharper focus on education in this subject, working with Copenhagen Fashion Week to support emerging talent, and continuing to drive far more business impact for our clients and the wider community,” said Carla Buzasi, WGSN’s President and CEO. “By working alongside Copenhagen Fashion Week, WGSN’s industry experts, data scientists and advisory consultants could not be better placed to help people navigate change, so they can create a better future with sustainability at its heart.”
Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, added: “Fashion weeks have a great role to play in pushing the sustainability agenda of the fashion industry forward, since we as a platform inevitably promote what fashion is. That comes with great responsibility toward the public and attendees of fashion weeks: partnerships play a vital role in this process, allowing us to leverage our impact to a wider community. We’re thrilled to continue collaborating with WGSN to share knowledge and create heightened awareness about sustainability.”
Both brands recognise that knowledge is a fundamental tool in driving positive impact in the industry. By combining WGSN and Copenhagen Fashion Week’s knowledge, resources and tools, the collaboration aims to support a more responsible future for the fashion industry. This year, the partnership is set to offer support to Copenhagen Fashion Week’s talent scheme, NEWTALENT, a social media collaboration, a podcast episode, an exclusive digital event and other events for the wider fashion community.
