Accurate trend forecasting led to record sales of Fashion Capsules at Pantaloons

Pantaloons, a leading Indian fashion retailer under the Aditya Birla Group, offers a diverse range of apparel and accessories across various categories, including womenswear, menswear, kidswear and non-apparel items. 

With a vast network of stores, Pantaloons aims to provide a comprehensive and stylish shopping experience for its broad customer base.

The challenge

In the dynamic and competitive Indian fashion market, Pantaloons needed to maintain its market leadership by accurately forecasting emerging trends and adapting to rapidly shifting consumer preferences. 

This included navigating market disruptions such as the rise of luxury and value retail and integrating new technologies like AI into product development. Notably, the menswear segment experienced an unprecedented shift in consumer demand, requiring agile and informed strategic responses.

The collaboration

To address these challenges, Pantaloons partnered with WGSN, which provided comprehensive trend forecasts and actionable insights to guide product development and strategy. 

By leveraging WGSN’s Catwalk Analytics: Print & Colour S/S 24 and Buyers’ Debrief: Accessories S/S 24 forecasts, Pantaloons identified the emerging bows trend. This foresight was instrumental in launching the successful Runway Edit collection, which achieved record-breaking sell-through rates and enjoyed a 60-day time to market.

I’ve launched eight Runway Edits since May, all cooked up from WGSN. They were high impact and we’ve never seen these sell-through rates before.

The collaboration

Building on this success, Pantaloons incorporated WGSN’s Blue and White Direction for S/S 24, gaining a competitive advantage by being the first to introduce this collection theme to the market, resulting in exceptional sales. 

Additionally, WGSN’s insights on modern store layouts and design played an important role in the development of Pantaloons’ new flagship store in Bangalore. This 72,000sqft state-of-the-art retail space set new standards for the Indian market, showing Pantaloons’ commitment to innovation and leadership.
