Q: Swimwear sustainability can be a challenge. How can we become more sustainable?
“A number of new fabric developments have improved the swimwear industry’s environmental impact. For example, bio-based nylons are created from castor beans or feedstock and are emerging as a greener option due to the renewability of these plants, which don’t need arable land to grow.
“Also, enhanced polyamides have a unique composition that accelerate biodegradability and are recyclable, reusable and Ecotex-certified. These, as well as bio-based nylons, also break down in controlled landfills within five years.”

Q: As we enter fashion week season, what relevance do the catwalk trends have for men’s fashion in the cost-of-living crisis?
“Catwalks are still a major source of inspiration and designers are more focused on their consumers’ lifestyles than previously, as seen from the rise of resort and ski collections for men.
“Versatile clothing that is wearable in more than one setting for work and for social is important, as is modular, convertible and highly functional clothing that transcends seasons and will be relevant for longer, therefore more sustainable and useful.”

Q: What are three Fashion Feed hashtags we should keep track of in 2023?
“First, keep track of innovation meant for travelling through #TravelFriendly, where we highlight designs that are lightweight, easily packable and multifunctional. Second, from the 2023 catwalks, #RacerRevival is a move on from pop punk and Y2K trends, especially key for the youth market. Lastly, check out #DigitalFashion to understand how to tackle the growing digital market, where we highlight everything from NFTs and digital collaborations to AI-generated design.
