Prep for New York Fashion Week with our city guide
Step onto the streets of New York City and see what it has to offer just in time for fashion week. The Big Apple is bustling and boasts plenty of new store and restaurant openings.
Visit the latest new openings
Head to SoHo to shop at recent store openings such as cult-favourite lifestyle fashion brand Sporty & Rich, which also features a juice bar and wellness treatments by appointment. Khaite’s latest flagship store is just a stone’s throw away on Mercer Street and features sleek concrete and steel finishes that house the brand’s sought-after apparel and accessories.
The neighbourhood also features Contact Sports, a new luxury sexual wellness shop and clothing boutique built to embody a '70s locker room with an upstairs 'clubhouse' for events.
New York’s experimental fashion scene continues at TNYC Clubhouse, a must-see for vintage lovers as well as LAAMS, a three-floor, graffiti-clad space that celebrates the city’s past and current creatives in the fashion, skate, art and music scene. For occasionwear inspiration, head to Cult Gaia, home to statement-making accessories and gowns inspired by nature.
Top food spots
Discover jazzy lounges and restaurants such as Soho Grand and Casino that will act as go-to meeting spots during NYFW or visit Habibi, a Syrian pop-up restaurant with live performances within a warehouse in industrial Bushwick. If you’re feeling peckish, head to Pop-up Grocer for snacks ranging from mood-balancing flavoured waters to chicken nuggets made from mushroom 'meat'.
Be inspired between shows
Visit New York’s iconic cultural destinations like The Metropolitan Museum of Art for historic silhouettes and pattern inspiration from a variety of cultures and a look at the yearly exhibit in tandem with the Met Gala, or The Museum at FIT for fashion-focused exhibits that explore various themes through a rich display of archival pieces and current innovations.
Alternatively, take a trip to Long Island to visit MoMA PS1’s artist-centred and community-driven space that embraces boundary-breaking ideas and experimental practices.
